Tink's Comfort Quilt
from the P Classic BOM Quilters

This is the beautiful quilt my online quilting friends at the P Classic Block of the Month quilting board sent to me in August, 2006. It was a complete surprise and was the most incredible gift I could receive during this time in my life.

My quilting friends knew that my life had been turned upside-down with the news that my husband of 5 years had liver cancer and needed a transplant. They have been a true source of friendship and comfort to me for the last 9 years that I've known them. We've traded blocks, fabrics, and stories for all that time.

We've made "comfort" quilts for others in the past and I have loved contributing to these when I can. This is the first time I've ever been on the receiving end of things.
What an incredible giving, caring group of women these ladies are!! They mail blocks from all parts of the U.S., then someone adds the sashing, batting, backing and binding. Then another kind soul quilts it and it is sent to the lucky recipient. That's me!

I cannot tell you how this quilt touched my heart and truly wrapped me in the comfort of the love that went into each block. My husband was amazed at the beauty and intricacy of this quilt and at the effort and care that went into making it.

I love knowing you ladies. I love sharing the love of quilting with you and getting to know you, even if only online. You are truly my friends in good and bad times.
I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart to my dear friends at P Classic BOM.  My husband, Michael sends his sincere thanks, also.
God Bless,
Tink

Tink's husband, Michael Maxwell, received a liver transplant on August 18th, 2006. Michael had liver cancer and had only months to live without the transplant.

We are eternally grateful to the donor and donor's family for the gift of life. We are also very grateful to the wonderful transplant team at Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center, Houston.

We have experienced an outpouring of love, prayers and support from friends and family and online friends! We are so blessed. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Yours in stitches, Tink

September 2009 Update! It's been three years since Michael's successful transplant. His liver is working fine and we are eternally grateful for everyone that had a part in that.  We are truly blessed!
